AbstractThe study investigated how children’s internalization affected the role of mothers’ achievement goals and controlling behaviors in children’s perfectionism and depression. Among the high internalization group of children, mothers’ performance goal was positively correlated with their self-oriented perfectionism but negatively correlated with their depression. Internalization appeared paradoxically as a risk and a protective factor.
