AbstractThe need to identify disease biomarkers is critical to ensure fast diagnosis and timely treatment. Surface enhanced laser desorption/ionization time-of-fight mass spectrometry (SELDI-TOF-MS) is a widely used technology platform for diagnostic biomarker discovery. This short review provides an overview of how it functions and also describes its advantages and drawbacks.
