AbstractThrough the discussion of the resistance properties of natural ventilation induced by wind force, a method of local pressure loss superposition was proposed to calculate the pressure loss. Airflow through buildings is composed of the sudden contraction section and the sudden expansion section. From this, it can be concluded that the discharge coefficients of the inlet opening and the outlet opening are different. A simple method to estimate the flow rate through buildings with large openings was obtained, and compared with the experimental results, the calculated values with the above mentioned method perform better than those with the conventional method.
