AbstractAll the approved chemotherapeutic drugs for the treatment of HBV hepatitis are nucleoside analogs targeting on HBV DNA polymerase. Drugs targeting on other viral unique targets are needed. A new class of chemicals with novel action against HBV replication was discovered. A brief description of their mode of action is given. © 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
