AbstractAn adamantane functionalized magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agent has been synthesized, and shows high liver specificity, prolonged retention time in both the liver and kidneys, the highest relaxivity among clinical contrast agents, high water solubility, thermodynamic stability, signal intensity enhancement, hepatocellular uptake, and low osmolality and toxicity.
