AbstractOBJECTIVE: To observe the micro-structure of series of vertebrate animal bones and investigate the difference in their biomineralization pattern. METHOD: Femurs/fins and vertebral bodies of 5 kinds of adult vertebrates (garoupa, hairtail, frog, rat and pigeon) were harvested. The micro-structure of these bones were examined and assessed with micro-CT. The raw images were reconstructed and analyzed for cortical and cancellous bones respectively.
