AbstractThis paper addresses the problem of performance analysis for maximum likelihood (ML) detection in two-input multiple-output multiplexing systems. A novel analytical method is presented to formulate the symbol error probability (SEP). Based on the total probability theory, the SEPs of the two transmitted signals are obtained in closed-form by solving the SEP equations. Both equal and unequal power allocations are investigated. The accuracy of the proposed method is verified by Monte-Carlo simulations. The proposed method can also be extended to systems with more than two inputs. ©2008 IEEE.
