AbstractA surfactant d-f ion-pair complex, [Ru(bpy)2L] {Eu(NTA)4}2 (bpy = 2,2′bipyridine, L = N-(4′-hexadecylphenyl)pyridine-2-carbaldimine, NTA -4,4,4-trifluoro-1-(2-napthyl)-1,3-butanedionato), was designed and synthesized for Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films. The LB films were studied by surface pressure-area (π-A) isotherm behavior, UV-visible, infrared and emission spectroscopy. Efficient energy transfer from the Eu complex anion to the Ru complex cation occurred in the films. © 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
