AbstractThis paper reports on one area of research being carried out at the Centre for Earthquake Engineering Research, the University of Hong Kong. A survey on the common structural details of reinforced concrete buildings in Hong Kong is reported. Potential problems of these details under earthquake effects are pointed out and alternative details are suggested.
