Objectives
L-carnitine, a natural dietary supplement with the potential to ameliorate atherosclerosis, is emerging as an item of interest for cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention and treatment, despite controversy exists. To examine the effectiveness and safety of L-carnitine, we will assess how genetically different levels of L-carnitine affect CVD risk and its risk factors in established large cohorts in China and the United Kingdom.
