Objectives
Depression is the most common mental illness among older adults. Tai chi has promising therapeutic potential for alleviating depression in older insomniacs. Our pilot data demonstrated that both conventional exercise and tai chi could improve depression and insomnia, but the effects of tai chi were generally more superior. Nonetheless, the comparative efficacy of tai chi versus conventional exercise on treating depression in older insomniacs has not been investigated. We aim to examine the superior efficacy of tai chi over conventional exercise on alleviating depressive symptoms in older insomniacs.
