Dr. Lee Chi Wai completed his undergraduate studies in Biochemistry and earned his PhD degree in Biology under the supervision of Dr H. Benjamin Peng from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). With the support of the Croucher Foundation Fellowship, Dr Lee performed postdoctoral research in the United States with Dr James Q. Zheng at Rutgers University (2006-2008) and Emory University (2008-2011). Prior to joining HKU, Dr. Lee was an Assistant Professor and Principal Investigator of the Laboratory of Neuronal Development & Diseases in the Department of Physiology at the National University of Singapore since 2013. Dr Lee joined the School of Biomedical Sciences at HKU as an Assistant Professor in September 2015. The research interest of his laboratory focuses on the signal transduction and cytoskeletal mechanisms underlying synapse development, disease, and regeneration. His original research findings have been published in leading international journals including Nature Neuroscience, Current Biology, eLife, Development, Science Signaling, Journal of Cell Science, eNeuro, and Developmental Biology.
