Dr Luk, Tzu Tsun 陸子璡
Dr Kevin Luk is a registered nurse and currently a Research Assistant Professor at the School of Nursing, The University of Hong Kong (HKU), where he earned his bachelor's and PhD degrees. His research focuses on devising, testing, and implementing scalable and sustainable interventions for lifestyle modifications by leveraging digital health technologies. His doctoral study on chat-based intervention for smoking cessation using mobile instant messaging apps like WhatsApp has laid the groundwork for developing similar treatment models to tackle smoking and other lifestyle risk factors. He built and implemented the first WhatsApp chatbot (wa.me/85223328977) in Hong Kong to promote the reach and uptake of smoking cessation services. Currently, he is leading three competitive external research grants for evaluating advanced digital health interventions for tobacco cessation and gestational diabetes prevention.
Dr Luk has published over 40 articles in international, peer-reviewed journals, including in JAMA Internal Medicine, Lancet Digital Health, and Tobacco Control as a lead author. His research achievements and impact have won him the Faculty Outstanding Research Output Award and the Faculty Knowledge Exchange Award from LKS Faculty of Medicine, HKU, among other accolades.
