Short Biography:

I received my BSc in Physics & Computer Science (double major) from the University of Hong Kong in 2015, and Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Toronto in 2020 under the supervision of Prof. Hoi-Kwong Lo. I worked at the University of Waterloo as a postdoctoral fellow for one year, and re-joined the University of Hong Kong in 2021 as a Research Assistant Professor collaborating with Prof. Hoi-Kwong Lo.

My main research interest is quantum communication, especially the design/optimization of quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols, quantum networks, as well as the combination of novel computational techniques (e.g. machine learning and semi-definite programming) with QKD. Having re-joined the Physics Department at my alma mater, I hope to contribute by addressing practical problems in quantum communication and pushing its boundaries, as well as bringing in new perspectives in the field by utilizing cross-disciplinary computational approaches. Our current project at HKU involves designing passive QKD protocols that can eliminate side-channels in source modulators and creating more practically secure QKD systems, as well as experimentally demonstrating the new protocols.
