Abstract | This paper presents the design and electromagnetic analysis of the double stator permanent magnet brushless (DS-PMBL) machine using as power splitting device for hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). The sizing equation is derived, which lays a foundation for the initial design of the machine. A 2.5 kW prototype is designed and built for exemplification. Moreover, 2D finite element analysis (FEA) for the machine is carried out to investigate back EMF, inductance characteristics and cogging torque. Experimental results of the prototype are given to verify the design method and the theoretical analysis, which are helpful on further studying the DS-PMBL machine using for power splitting. |
