Objectives
1 To offer a more comprehensive and systematic understanding of nativist writing in Taiwan, with a focus on the nativist works produced since the 1990s. 2 To redress the common saturated optimism in which the relationship between the Han and aboriginal population is conceived. 3 To challenge the current narrow definition of nativist writing by extending the scope to ocean-based writing. 4 To problematize the Hoklo centrism prevalent in contemporary Taiwanese cultural nationalism by taking into consideration other (and often marginalized) nativist writing. 5 To introduce some of the most recent and well-acclaimed writing from Taiwan to a wider audience.
