Objectives
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the commonest cancer in Hong Kong. Ample evidence has shown that CRC screening by colonoscopy and polypectomy is effective in reducing cancer incidence and mortality. However, CRCs can still occur before the usual recommended surveillance interval after an initial negative colonoscopy (i.e. interval CRC). The characteristics of interval CRC in the Asian population and whether the risk can be reduced by chemopreventive agents remains unknown.
