Objectives
The overall goal of this study is to build an innovative intervention model based on the contact theory to reduce stigma of MI, facilitate recovery, and promote community integration of people with MI (PMI). Under this overarching goal, this study has the following three objectives: 1) To understand stigma of MI from the perspectives of four constituencies involved in the recovery and community integration of PMI, including PMI, family members (FM), mental health professionals (MHP), and community residents (CR). 2) To understand the mechanisms that facilitate positive contact between PMI and FM, between PMI and MHP, and between PMI and CR. 3) To examine a holistic contact model of stigma of MI held by FM, MHP, and CR.
