Objectives
1) To reconstruct from Nyāya and Buddhist sources a naturalized account of the roles that attention, memory, and concepts play in structuring conscious perceptual experience, which further offers a novel response to current discussions of non-conceptual content, cognitive penetration, and phenomenal consciousness; 2) To complete four essays for submission to top-ranked journals in the history of philosophy and the philosophy of mind; 3) To produce new translations of Sanskrit philosophical texts and manuscripts which either have remained untranslated and undiscussed in modern scholarship, or whose existing translations are outdated; 4) To prepare a book proposal for a monograph that introduces non-specialist readers to classical Indian theories of perception and consciousness, and situates these theories within the logical space of current philosophical debates.
