To (A) promote inter-modal transport data sharing in Hong Kong as a means to (i) benefit the movement of persons, (ii) enhance the operational and commercial efficiency of operators on a multi-modal basis, (iii) generate available Big Data for collaborative public and private sector smart city management, (iv) tackle the problems of traffic congestion, and (v) provide an improved environment and cleaner quality of air for the citizens of Hong Kong. To (B) achieve this through the application of lessons learned from research on a global basis into inter-modal transport data sharing modals that fully illustrate datasharing principles and techniques and the range of social, commercial and business that make this possible, to a select number of Hong Kong use-cases involving the relevant stakeholders, including operators, vendors, government agencies, and others to achieve identifiable, practical and sustainable outcomes. To (C) manage this by engagement with two groups of stakeholders, (i) several from operators, government agencies and vendors who have already expressed an interest to pursue specific use-cases and who will be working with the research team on a monthly basis during the 7-month programme (several of whom have already been involved in preparatory proof-of-concept ‘ ’ research projects with the team), (ii) a wider group of stakeholders, including independent university researchers and interested civil organizations who have expressed support for a monthly Working Group that will receive reports and act as an advisory body. And (D) the programme will also help train a future generation of professionals and leaders in fields of data-sharing at HKU and other universities.
