Objectives
1. To achieve a substantial understanding of Catholic Bible translations and biblical literature in late imperial China, and re-evaluate such a largely neglected religious, literary, and cultural heritage 2. To trace and recover early Catholic endeavours in producing a body of biblical texts, which played a part in laying the foundation of modern Chinese biblical literature 3. To accomplish a monographic study that can help to expand recent scholarship on the history of the Bible in China 4. To raise awareness of multiformity and complexity of Bible translations along with the spread of Christianity in global history, particularly in the late imperial China 5. To promote new findings and sources in this project and engage a wide range of non-academic people through dialogic exchanges as well as collaborations in public events on Chinese Bible translations and biblical literature
