Objectives
1. Characterise charge recombination dynamics in the model P3TEA:SF-PDI2 and PvBDTTAZ:O-IDTBR systems using a range of transient optical and electrical techniques. Identify various recombination processes present in this system, and determine the rate that corresponds to each radiative and non-radiative process. 2. Develop a range of related blends that are variants of the model P3TEA:SF-PDI2 and PvBDTTAZ:O-IDTBR with varying Urbach energies. This involves varying the processing condition or blending ratio of P3TEA:SF-PDI2 and PvBDTTAZ:O-IDTBR, and blending the model polymer with various other acceptor molecules (both fullerenes and non-fullerenes). 3. Using the selected blends developed in Objective #2, characterise charge recombination dynamics by identifying various recombination processes present and determine the corresponding rate. 4. Develop photo-chemical model that relates Urbach energy and charge recombination rates. Identify the optimal Urbach energy for suppressing non-radiative recombination processes and for optimising device performance.
