Objectives
Intra-regional investment in the Asia-Pacific region has been a most notable phenomenon in the past few years with the emergence of the newly industrialised economies (viz. Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and South Korea) as major foreign investors in the region. This project will examine the factors giving rise to this phenomenon and the implications for economic development in this region in general and technology transfer and industrial development in particular. The macroeconomic aspect of this project will be complemented by some case studies of corporations at the microeconomic level.
