Objectives
As a result of coastal reclamation and pollution, Hong Kong is losing its coral reefs. This is a study of an artificial reef made of PFA blocks in Hoi Ha Wan, proposed as Hong Kong's first marine park. The reef is being studied to assess colonization of it by corals, its value as a fish breeding site and the leaching of trace metals from it. This experimental reef will enable decisions to be made with regard to the feasibility of establishing other reefs in Hong Kong's waters.
