Objectives
To organized an independent evaluation by 4 major laboratories in Hong Kong of a new diagnostic test, to ascertain that this test is reliable under routine operational condition for the diagnosis of febrile illnesses of children and infectious mononucleosis of young adults; to produce 3 other chmeric EBV proteins, ie. VCA, Zebra and EBDNase, and to undertake inhouse evaluation of these and the chimeric EBNA 1 protein to determine which one or combination of these proteins are appropriate for a) diagnosis of NPC, b) diagnosis of recurrent NPC, c) population screening for the early detection of NPC.
