Objectives
To understand the structural and genetic relationships between 7.8S IgG and 5.7S IgG of ducks. In particular, are they encoded by one or more genes and, if by only one, then does this produce mRNAs of different length or are the molecules post-translational products of a single species of RNA; to observe the ontogeny of duck immunoglobulins during embryogenesis and following antigenic stimulation; to map the gene locus which codes for duck immunoglobulin heavy chains, including the structure of the variable region genes in order to obtain information on the nature of antibody diversity in this species.
