Objectives
1. Use Boltzmann equation and Landau-Boltzmann equation to compute the shear viscosity at high and low temperature of a single component Fermi gas and determine its dependences on temperature as well as p-wave scattering parameters. Compare the results with those obtained using the diagrammatic approach based on Kubo formula. Investigate other transport coefficient such as heat conductivity. 2. Investigate possible novel ground state of a two-component Bose gas with inter-species p-wave interaction using a variational wave function that describes a fragmented Bose condensate. Construct the appropriate Gross-Pitaevskii equations and discuss the stability, excitation and correlation properties of the system. 3. Study the scattering properties of one-dimensional fermions when population of excited transverse bands is important. Discuss how it gives rise to effective s-wave scattering and calculate the radio-frequency line-shape and explore band relaxation mechanisms. Furthermore, explore the coupled Luttinger liquid physics with mixed even and odd scatterings by calculating conductivity and viscosity, and make relevant experimental predictions
