To achieve a balanced picture of the strengths and weaknesses in English language communication which students bring to tertiary education and on which subsequent language enhancement measures must build; to gather detailed information about the perceptions, attitudes and habits which students bring to their learning and use of English, and which will influence their receptivity and response to subsequent language enhancement measures.
