Objectives
- To develop an auditory assessment tool, the Speech Neural Encoding Test for Early Infancy, to measure howprecisely a young infant’s brain can process speech, which will assist with screening for language impairment.Early detection will allow for intervention to be described at the earliest possible time.- This test will be developed based on research published by the Project Coordinator (Wong et al., 2021,AJSLP), which shows that the precision of infants’ speech processing is positively associated with futurelanguage development.- After development in the first year, the test will be deployed for two years to benefit 600 Chinese-learninginfants.
