Objectives
To improve our understandings of the H.pylori surface lectins and to develop a typing system for H.pylori by using these lectins as markers; to develop an animal model to test if H.pyori lectins could be exploited as vaccine antigens to prevent gastric H.pylori colonization; to test if specific oligosaccharides can displace H.pylori from gastric epithelial surface so that naturally occuring compounds bearing these oligosaccharide epitopes can be used as therapeutic agents to eliminate gastric H.pylori colonization.
