Objectives
COVID-19 is one the worst pandemics in human history. As SARS-CoV-2 Omicron is becoming endemic in the human population, it will continue to circulate in humans and causing new infections annually. People with obesity-related conditions are at higher risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection, associated with delayed SARS-CoV-2 clearance, and are more prone to severe COVID-19 but the underlying mechanism remain incompletely understood. Our study aims to investigate the mechanism of the elevated pathogenicity of SARS-CoV-2 in the obese population and explore novel intervention target for better management of the disease in this population.
