Objectives
Metabolic-dysfunction associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is a new nomenclature introduced in 2020, and prospective outcome studies evaluating its health impact are still limited. We aim to investigate an updated incidence and fibrosis progression rate of MAFLD, as well as the risks of developing extra-hepatic outcomes, as compared to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
