Objectives
In view of Hong Kong's dense and aging population, prevalence of public transport and complex weather conditions, the project is oriented to address emergency contingencies at key nodes of the urban transport network and sudden natural disasters in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. We plan to use operations research, machine learning and simulation methods driven by data to develop theories and schemes for complex traffic evolutive prediction, emergency resource scheduling, and personnel evacuation supported by intelligent navigation and the coordination of multiple transportation modes including railway, bus and taxi etc. Benefiting from these methods, the project will help to quickly navigate and evacuate a large number of abnormally gathered people in contingencies, eliminate potential traffic congestion, economic losses and safety hazards, and ensure urban safety and citizens' welfare.
