Objectives
To test the hypothesis that uptake of dying cells by DC may trigger anti-nuclear auto-antibody (ANA) responses in normal and autoimmune mouse models; to compare the effects of cell death by apoptosis and by necrosis on the induction of ANA responses; to determine the effect of apoptotic cell uptake load on DC immunogenicity in the induction of autoantibody responses; to determine whether uptake of necrotic or apoptotic dying cells by DC may accelerate or down-regulate respectively autoimmune responses in the lupus prone mice.
