Objectives
The project aims at investigating the effectiveness of four methods in preventing new root surface caries and in arresting early caries. These are: 1) giving oral hygiene instruction (OHI) alone; 2) OHI and semi-annual application of chlorhexidine varnish; 3) OHI and semi-annual application of sodium fluoride varnish; 4) OHI and annual application of silver diamine fluoride solution. Apart from this, the project also attempts to compare the success of a new approach to restore decayed root surface against the conventional treatment.
