To raise awareness of product design professionals in the manufacturing industry on the challenges, legislative and customer pressures for product eco-design and 'end of life' management; To enhance understanding of the rational and application of eco-design in the manufacturing industry; the values and benefits of eco-design skill enhancement to professional career development; To establish a competence enhancement tool through the localization of an internationally successful Smart eco-Design TM programme; To provide a platform for product design professionals in the manufacturing industry to acquire knowledge and skills on product eco-design and 'end of life' management through train-the-trainer sessions.
