Professor Wong, Ka Hin Alvin 黃家軒
Alvin K. Wong is Assistant Professor in the Department of Comparative Literature at the University of Hong Kong. He received his PhD in Literature from the University of California, San Diego and taught at Yonsei University before joining HKU recently. His research spans across the fields of Hong Kong literature and culture, Chinese literary and cultural studies, Sinophone studies, queer theory, transnational feminism, and the environmental humanities. He is currently writing a book titled Queer Anti-capital, which examines queer cultural encounters with late capitalism across different Sinophone contexts of postsocialist China, postcolonial Hong Kong, and post-Martial Law Taiwan.
Dr. Wong has published in journals such as Journal of Lesbian Studies, Gender, Place & Culture, Culture, Theory, and Critique, Concentric, and Interventions as well as in edited volumes such as Transgender China (Palgrave, 2012), Queer Sinophone Cultures (Routledge, 2013), Filming the Everyday (Rowman & Littlefield, 2017), and Hong Kong Keywords (The Chinese University Press, forthcoming). At HKU, he will contribute to the Common Core curriculum on Hong Kong culture and globalization and offer courses related to Hong Kong literature and culture, feminism, queer theory, and film and media studies.
