Wong, Wing Yee Victoria 黃穎兒
Dr Victoria Wong joined HKUMed in July 2020 as Director of HKU Health System, the umbrella executive arm overseeing the clinical enterprises of HKUMed, and as Clinical Associate Professor of Practice. She was appointed Associate Dean (Clinical Affairs) of HKUMed in October 2021. Prior to joining HKUMed, she was Consultant Ophthalmologist in Hong Kong Eye Hospital (HKEH) from 2011-2020, where she was Subspecialty Coordinator of Cornea & External Eye Diseases; Coordinator of Cornea & External Eye Diseases of CUHK-HKEH Subspecialty Fellowship Training Program, and was awarded Best Service Provider in 2014. She was also Medical Director of the Hospital Authority Eye Bank, and led the team to be awarded Hospital Authority Outstanding Team 2017.
Dr Wong obtained her MBBS at the University of Hong Kong in 1997 with Distinctions in Surgery and Health, Behaviour and Medical Care II and Mun Gold Medal in Psychiatry, and Master of Medical Sciences in 2003, specializing in Administrative Medicine with Distinction. Following her specialist training, Dr Wong was awarded the Ho Hung-Chui Medical Education Foundation Scholarship to further undergo subspecialty training in cornea and external eye diseases at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. She obtained an Executive Master of Business Administration from the CUHK Business School in 2023 with a place on the Dean's List.
Dr Wong previously worked in the Research Office of the Food and Health Bureau on a secondment in 2009–10. She was a Grant Review Board member of the Health and Medical Research Fund and Panel Chairman of the Hospital Authority Kowloon Central/Kowloon East Clusters Research Ethics Committee.
Outside of her current administrative duties in HKUMed, Dr Wong is an Honorary Consultant in Grantham Hospital, where she provides bedside and surgical trainings to ophthalmology residents. Dr Wong is an examiner for fellowship examinations of the College of Ophthalmologists of Hong Kong. She was a scientific program committee member of various international ophthalmology congresses including the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology and the World Ophthalmology Congress, published over 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals, and co-authored 2 textbooks.
