AbstractWe report the synthesis of metallic nanostructures by a chemical fluid deposition method using carbon dioxide supercritical fluid as the reaction medium. Ordered platinum nanowires were molded out from a mesoporous silica template, SBA-15, with a pore channel diameter of 7 nm. A solubility study of the platinum precursor, platinum(II) dimethylcyclooctadiene, in the supercritical carbon dioxide was carried out to obtain a phase diagram in order to optimize the operating parameters required for the metal deposition process. High-purity and uniform nanowires with large aspect ratios were obtained at moderate temperatures and pressures. © 2008 American Chemical Society.
