| Abstract | A huge number of Chinese citizens have joined the international migration waves since 1978, when China opened its door while launching the economic reform. The Chinese transnational migration and diasporas can be seen almost in every city and town of the world. The academic studies, however, have usually been focused on the ethnic Chinese communities in North America, Australia, West Europe, Southeast Asia, and East Asian countries such as Japan, leaving the topic of Chinese new migrants in the former communist countries of East Europe basically untouched.
