Abstract | Contractually binding: The methionine residues of the extracellular domain of hCTR1 (hCTR1-N) and its mutants were shown to be the key residues for cisplatin binding. hCTR1-N significantly facilitates the activation of the drug by the formation of Pt-thioether species. The anticancer drug is likely transported by hCTR1 through methionine-based sulfur-sulfur exchange (see picture). Copyright © 2011 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim. |
