AbstractThe spline finite strip method has been applied to the free vibration analysis of a singly curved shell panel. The convergence of the method is reviewed critically. Additional numerical examples on shells of different geometrical shapes are employed to demonstrate the accuracy and versatility of the method. Design charts showing the variations of the four lowest modes with the geometry of such panels are also presented. © 1989.
