AbstractIn the study on the effects of landslide-induced waves on the downstream dam, the estimations of wave generation and wave propagation are important. Aiming at this type of hazard problem, this paper presents a numerical approach of wave-generation method of defining inlet boundary conditions for simulating the second-order Stokes wave through the redevelopment in FLUENT code. This wave-generation method is based on the Navier-Stokes equations and VOF method of tracing the free surface. The study is carried out through defining the analytical solutions of wave velocity and wave amplitude at the inlet boundary via the UDF (user defined function) in FLUENT code. The numerical results show this model can be available to simulate the weak nonlinear wave. This study will lay the first stone for the following simulation of landslide-induced wave.
