Abstract | The differences of horizontal earthquake action in the seismic design codes of China, America and Europe are studied in this paper. Firstly, comparison of building importance, strength reduction factors of GB50011-2001, FEMA450 and Eurocode 8 is presented, and base shear method of GB50011 -2001, equivalent lateral force procedure of FEMA450, lateral force analysis method of Eurocode 8 are summarized. Then, the seismic base shear of a multistorey frame structure with different ductility is computed as an office or a hospital building under intensities 7, 8 and 9, the both computed results are compared, and some differences of seismic base shear are found for the three codes. |
