AbstractInformation resources on their own present only the information they contain. The relationship between the resources and the users is usually neglected. By exploiting the relationship between the user and information resources in the form of context, which is established when the user accesses or acquires these resources, can help create smart mobile appliances. The metadata contained in a context is not merely data about data, but represents how the user and the informatwn resource are related, which helps searching, provides clues to find related information resources, and facilitates information sharing with minimum manual effort. An electronic business name cards application is implemented to demonstrate the applicability of the idea, © 2005 IEEE.
