Abstract | In this paper, two optimal buffer capacity models are developed for non-mechanical flow lines where the service time variability is described by a defined probability density function. An example is given to illustrate the theory, and sensitivity analysis is also performed to evaluate the effects of changes in the values of the system parameters on buffer capacity. Numerical comparisons are made with the results obtained using approaches developed by other researchers. |
