Abstract | This study focused on monitoring the pH value change of hydrologic process in a small basin of New Territory, Hong Kong. The results showed that in the period of 5 years of study the yearly variation of median values of the precipitation pH was 4.5 to 4.7, the pH median values of stream was close to neutral with its yearly variation of 6.6 to 6.8. This study indicated that vegetation and soil of land ecosystem played a key role on regulating the surface-water acidity. Various vegetation types and plant compositions had important influence on buffering ability for acid of the land ecosystem. |
