AbstractThe potential benefit and cost of adopting EBS (E-Business Solutions) solutions are both high. They are major attraction and concern for Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) respectively. However, SMEs are generally unclear and have many difficulties in choosing or developing an appropriate EBS. This paper will address these issues by proposing a platform "DIY (Do It Yourself)" approach which integrates software product platform theories and EBS development practice. "Portalets" are proposed and developed as building blocks of this platform and their requirements, features and structures will be investigated. By mapping the functional requirements to the portalets platform, an EBS can be easily built by gluing the portalets which can be selected from the platform with customization.
