Abstract | In this paper, the needs to redesign assemblies for layered manufacturing (LM) are discussed and the proposed methodology to perform redesign is also suggested. Previous works of redesign and useful techniques in feature based design and feature recognition are briefly described in the literature review to provide some background information of the research. The current work is aimed at extending the redesign work to focus on the redesign of geometrical structure of the assemblies, in order to result in more optimal designs for fabrication of products through layered manufacturing. |
