AbstractRATIONALE: Cigarette smoking (CS) is a leading cause of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The prevalence of COPD is much higher among the elderly (Lancet 2007; 370:741-750), which may be explained by their long-term smoking histories in their life. However, the impact of early age CS exposure on CS-induced oxidative stress and inflammation is unknown.
